Labs for R&D in agrifood

The brand new Innolab Agrifood has been in use since January 2019. It offers newly purchased equipment and facilities, like:

• ML-1 Laboratory facilities;
• Analytical lab services;
• Specialized analysis equipment is offered through companies at the Campus, Hanze University of Applied Sciences and the University of Groningen to support research. Examples are HPLC, GC, HPAEC-PAD and NMR;
• Autoclaves in the rinse kitchen;
• Shared facilities and services;
• Office spaces.

At Innolab Agrifood, there are two labs for rent with shared facilities, which are 330 m² in total. These labs are shared with other companies, working in the field of agrofood. The Lab has 36 workplaces in total, of more than 9 m² per workplace. Laboratory space is rented starting from a unit of three workplaces, which are complemented to two office spaces. The workspaces and offices are at a convenient sight distance  from  each other.

One of the laboratories is equipped with shared equipment such as centrifuges, freezers, incubators etc. This basic set of equipment enables companies to start quickly in the Innolab.

Innolab Agrifood also offers:

• Spaces for consultation and presentation;
• General room for presentations or meetings
• Options for connecting to shared Wi-Fi or connect your own Wi-Fi.

Campus Groningen is  the fastest growing campus in the Netherlands and the second largest campus in terms of total employment. Tenants of the Innolab Agrifood get access to a unique and extensive network of the innovative Campus Groningen.

The location of the lab is on the Zernike Campus Groningen, where you find yourself  close to 3 knowledge centers (UG, UMCG and HG), students,  companies, entrepreneurs and researchers, all proud of this meeting place.

Northern Netherlands has been known as a source of first-rate knowledge and expertise, for more than 400 years: Nobel Prize winners, the first female student and the first female teacher, the first Dutch astronaut and the first president of the European Central Bank were all educated in the Northern Netherlands.

The strength of the Campus is in the initial phases of the innovation process. Due to a good mix of knowledge institutes and SME’S), new ideas can smoothly mature from lab-scale to scale-up.
The aim is to link research with entrepreneurs to strengthen the Innovative power for a competitive advantage of the region.

Besides of offering laboratory facilities, access to business support is offered in the fields of business development, business strategy, intellectual property and patenting, legal aspects, budgeting, finance and risk analysis.
